Cassia Lodge started very much as an idealist’s dream. Convinced that Africa needs more than aid to lift it out of poverty, the owners decided to invest all their savings in this lodge, thus creating employment opportunities for young Ugandans, markets for farmers and fishermen, and generating taxes that pay for social services.
It is their modest contribution to the development of Uganda and the African continent in the hope that their example can give confidence and inspiration to other investors.
Cassia endeavours to provide you with a ‘home away from home’. At the lodge, one gets a feel of what the young journalist and future British prime minister Winston Churchill meant when he described Uganda in his 1908 book ‘My African Journey’:
”For magnificence, for variety of form and colour, for profusion of brilliant life, for vast scale, Uganda is truly the pearl of Africa.”
From Cassia, you can enjoy the most spectacular views on Lake Victoria and Kampala. A relaxing swim in the pool will help you cool off after a hot day. And the large terrace is ideal for a romantic, candle-light dinner.
The restaurant offers fine European and Ugandan dishes. Although the menu is quite extensive, would you still have a special wish, the Chef will be delighted to accommodate you.
Should you encounter any problem, don’t hesitate to get in touch with the reception or the manager. They will do everything to make your stay in the Pearl of Africa as pleasant as possible.
